Wear Purple October 20, wear purple day, lgbt, Wear Purple,October 20: On October 20, 2010, the population in North America and perhaps the rest of the world (that means you) are invited to wear purple in honor of six gay adolescents in the U.S. who committed suicide in recent weeks because of bullying, either in their home or school. Their ages ranged from 13 to 19. Purple Spirit on the flag represents LGBT people. Tell your friends, family, colleagues, neighbors and schools. Councillor Joel Burns of Fort Worth, Texas who is gay, gave a very moving speech a few days before residents and Council members and my heart broke when I watched the video. He received a standing ovation. If you want to watch the video I have attached with this post. I am also enclosing a link to a YouTube video (thank you Tish for bringing this to my attention) published by the young stars of Broadway "It's better sings Broadway for The Trevor Project" in a celebration of life, following LGBT suicides across the United States. Please share this original song and video to help send a message of hope and support. The song is available October 19th iTunes, with all products benefiting from the project download Trevor. Please support Trevor Project by downloading this song on iTunes.
