Betsy Drake: Betsy Drake was born September 11, 1923. Betsy Drake is an American-born French actress and writer. It was the third wife of actor Cary Grant.

Betsy Drake, the eldest child of two American expatriates, was born in Paris in 1923. Although his grandfather, Tracy Drake, had built the Drake Hotel in Chicago, IL, the Drakes have lost their money in the stock market crash of 1929 when Betsy was five. Betsy was therefore forced to return to the United States aboard the SS Ile de France with his parents, his brothers and a nanny. She grew up variously in Chicago, Illinois, Westport, Connecticut, Washington DC, Virginia, North Carolina and New York, NY.

Betsy Drake went to twelve different schools, both private and public, before focusing on theater and acting at the Junior College in Rock Creek Park, Washington, DC. She began to seek work as an actress in New York, earning a livelihood by working as a model Conover. She met the playwright Horton Foote, who offered him a position as understudy in his heart that the game allowed him to join the Equity actor and becomes a professional actress.
