Awards and Honours


Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar in his twenty-year old career has made and broken almost all possible records, reached every known milestone and currently sits on the pinnacle of success. During his journey he was conferred various awards and honours not only for his contribution to the game but also bringing laurels to the country of a billion.

2008: Sachin Tendulkar was conferred the Padma Vibhushan, India's second-highest civilian honour.

In the same year Indian batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar was named the best Asian One-day batsman at the inaugural Asian Cricket Council (ACC) awards.

2006: Tendulkar was felicitated at the Castrol Cricketing Awards ceremony for going past Sunil Gavaskar's record of 34 centuries.

2005: He was given Rajiv Gandhi Award for Best Sportsman.

2002: Sachin Tendulkar played his 100th Test at The Oval. It was the fourth Test against England. In the third Test of the series at the Leeds, Sachin surpassed Sir Donald Bradman's record of 29 Test centuries.

To laud his feat, Ferrari invited Sachin Tendulkar to its paddock in Silverstone during the 2002 British Grand Prix to receive a Ferrari 360 Modena from the legendary F1 racer Michael Schumacher

2001: Tendulkar awarded the 'Maharashtra Bhushan' Award and the MCA felicitates Tendulkar with a silver bat in recognition to his feat of 10000 runs in Limited Overs Internationals.

1999: Sachin Tendulkar awarded with prestigious Padmashri Award.

1997: Tendulkar became the Wisden Cricketer of the Year. In 2002, Wisden ranked him the second greatest Test batsman of all time, next to Sir Donald Bradman, and the second greatest ODI batsman of all time, next to Vivian Richards.

1998: Tendulkar won the Coopers and Lybrand Award for 'Player of the year'.

1991: Sachin Tendulkar was awarded with the 'Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna' which is India's highest recognition in sports.

1994: Sachin Tendulkar was presented with the Arjuna award in 1994. Instituted in 1961, the award is given annually to honour sportsmen. The award constitutes of a cash prize of Rs 50,000, a bronze statuette of Arjuna and a scroll.

Apart from all the mentioned awards, Sachin Tendulkar is also the proud holder of the maximum number of Man of the Match (MoM) and Man of the Series (MoS) awards in the ODIs. He won 14 MoS and 60 MoM ODI awards.

In Tests, he has won MoM awards 12 times and MoS awards 4 times.
